Raw material: Paper
LibriBianchi are sculptures that are born using real books destined for waste, which are given a new life. Covered in white, each book becomes an icon of all books to represent study, research, the thought of the human being, or culture, awareness, life. They may seem like silent sculptures, but they are not, they scream silently to be read, as the Little Prince says, not with their eyes, but with their heart.
Raw material: Bronze
In the quest to make the book an imperishable icon, so that nothing can supplant it, not even the arrival of new technologies rightly aimed at safeguarding trees so seriously endangered by human greed, LibriBianchi become bronze. With the use of this noble metal, the White Paper can achieve almost infinite livability and can be exposed outside.
Raw material: Wood
The LibriBianchi sculptures try to mend the tear to bring man closer to Nature, which thus becomes a source of inspiration. The tree has existed before us, it will survive us, its strength lies in adapting, in resisting, and it is also selfless because it gives us oxygen, breath, life. And it is thanks to all this that the book, as an expression of human thought, decides to return to its origins to be part of the tree again; from this search for transformation into a 'dendromorphosis' tree comes the series of sculptures 'Metamorphosis'.
Installations and other projects
The artists express themselves with large installations of White Books that can also involve the public by addressing different themes: social problems, war conflicts, even intraspecific violence, and they propose culture as a means to become aware of it and escape indifference, thus becoming 'Artivism', a collective rite that presupposes the active participation of people, involving them and urging them to expose themselves with a gesture, apparently illogical, but strongly emotional and symbolic.
The totem
LibriBianchi are recognized in totems, as an elective identity. So it was for the Native Americans who experienced them as works of art, loaded with symbols with a profound cultural, spiritual, healing and protective meaning. The totem inextricably linked human beings to the natural world, an ecological thought ante litteram. For Lorenzo and Simona Perrone, books play this role of caring for and protecting people.
Philosophy
LibriBianchi by Lorenzo and Simona Perrone, are the expression of a personal artistic research that has been developing for over twenty years exploring the world of books to strongly sanction the binomial book/culture as a synonym of civilization.
