"...melted into tears"
Project for a fountain, 2020
Bronze, marble
400 x 120 x 260 cm
A book that cries because it is suffering, feels pain for the culture that is mortified, for our humanity that cannot free itself from war. This is the maquette of a project for a large sculpture/fountain in white patinated bronze. A mighty book standing vertically, open, which instead of the text has cracks, like wounds, from which drops of water flow, infinite tears which, falling into a black granite basin placed under the book, produce a sound similar to rain. A gentle noise, like a “mantra” that makes the sculpture a place to meditate.
The artists express themselves through large WhiteBooks installations that engage the public, addressing various themes: social issues, war conflicts, violence, including intraspecific violence. They propose culture as a means to raise awareness and escape indifference, thus becoming 'Artivism.'
