"Every day of war"

On the occasion of BookCity 2024, Lorenzo and Simona Perrone presented Every Day of War, an installation that invites reflection on the cultural destruction caused by war. In the Sala delle Colonne at the Fabbrica del Vapore in Milan, 500 "mortally wounded" books were arranged to evoke a cemetery, symbolizing human atrocities. Stained in blood red, the books represented the daily wounds of violence, amplifying a message of memory and collective responsibility. The work is part of the long artistic journey of the Perrones, who have been exploring the meaning of the book as a symbol of culture and civilization through the LibriBianchi project for over twenty years. By transforming materials destined for disposal into powerful works of art, the artists emphasize the value of culture as an antidote to indifference.

Installazions

The artists express themselves through large WhiteBooks installations that can engage the public, addressing various themes: social issues, war conflicts, violence, including intraspecific violence. They propose culture as a means to raise awareness and escape indifference, thus becoming 'Artivism.'
