White patinated bronze
24 x 18 x 14 cm
The title refers to the temperature at which books catch fire and it is also a beautiful book by Ray Bradbury, a firm denunciation of totalitarian regimes. This piece is the result of the artists’ personal quest to cast bronze directly from the paper book without the need to go through the lost wax phase
The artists always begin with real books destined for disposal. Through the lost-wax casting process, they achieve a broader range of possible sculptural redefinitions of the book as an object. Finally, with fire, the bronze becomes malleable, giving rise to works that seem alive. It is a quest for the alchemical transformation of paper into something more enduring—a challenge with a noble material, to shape it and make it as light as pages in the wind.
