“Mediterranean Sea”
2019
Book, plaster, acrylic paint, small casts of plaster skulls
60 x 38 x 16 cm
The Mediterranean Sea has become a symbol of shipwrecks and death for all the migrants who lost their lives there.
LibriBianchi are sculptures created using real books destined for disposal, giving them a new life. Covered in white, each book becomes an icon of all books, telling stories, emotions, and feelings. It may seem like a mute sculpture, but it is not; it silently screams to be read—not with the eyes, but with the heart, as the Little Prince says.
